5-6 Feet Tall 3-4 Inches Wide--
Veronicastrum virginicum is commonly referred to as Culver's Root. The name 'Veronicastrum' refers to this species resembling plants in the genus Veronica. Its epithet 'virginicum' refers to it being first collected in Virginia. It is a woodland prairie perennial plant that is prized for its clean lines and strong vertical habit. Its tall, unbranched stems are surrounded by finely toothed leaves and topped with white spire flowers that bloom for several weeks during the middle of summer. Flowers attract a nice variety of bees, butterflies and other beneficial pollinators.
Culver's Root thrives in full to part sun in average, moist, well-drained soils. It prefers moist habitats, mostly prairies and open areas.
