Thuja occidentalis 'Congabe' PP19009 is commonly referred to as Fire Chief™ Arborvitae or Swamp Cedar Fire Chief™. It is a slow-growing sport of Thuja 'Rheingold', with deeper color and much less splitting. It features a perfectly globular evergreen habit with bright gold feathery foliage in spring that turns green with red tips in summer before maturing to a bronzy-red in fall.
Fire Chief™ Arborvitae is easy to grow and thrives in full sun in average, evenly moist, well-drained soils. It is intolerant of consistently dry conditions. It is ideal for shrub borders, hedge and screens and is absolutely perfect for containers and rock gardens.
