Viburnum plicatum f. tomentosum 'Shasta' is commonly referred to as Shasta Doublefile Viburnum or Shasta Japanese Snowball Viburnum. Shasta Viburnum is a large, multi-stemmed, deciduous shrub that produces abundant lacecap-like clusters of snow white sterile flowers on horizontal branches in spring. The flowers usually cover the entire plant! Flowers give way to bright red fruits in mid summer, maturing to black in fall. Birds just can't get enough of them! Dark green leaves turn burgundy red to purple in fall.
Shasta Doublefile Viburnum thrives in full to partial sun in average, evenly moist, well-drained soils. It prefers loamy soils, however it will tolerate other soil types. It does expect consistent, even moisture. It is low maintenance and ideal for smaller spaces due to its compact size.
