ROYAL STAR MAGNOLIA -
8-10 Feet Tall 8-10 Feet Wide--
The Royal Star Japanese magnolia has pretty pink buds that open to large, fragrant, double white flowers (3.4" diameter). The 'Royal Star' is slightly larger, and has showier flowers, than its stellata species.
It has won the prestigious 'Award of Garden Merit' from the Royal Horticultural Society for its unique star-shaped flowers. Its foliage is unique as well and features large, deep green, oblong leaves.
The hardy Royal Star Magnolia can be used as a small tree or a large shrub as it matures at around 10' tall. It thrives in full sun, but will grow in part shade. It does best in moist, well-drained soils.
