Carpinus (Hornbeam or Ironwood) are beautiful, deciduous trees with a distinctive, muscular appearance. Their strong, dense wood and attractive foliage make them a popular choice for landscapes and parks. They feature contorted branches and furrowed bark that give them a rugged look. Hornbeam's foliage comes in variety of leaf shapes and colors, often turning yellow and orange in fall. They provide food and shelter for a variety of birds and small mammals and are easy to care for.
