DRAGONS EYE JAPANESE RED PINE
Pinus densiflora 'Oculus-draconis' is commonly referred to as the Dragon's Eye Japanese Red Pine. This is a small pine with an open, pendulous habit, irregular branching and an umbrella-like crown. As it matures it develops a tilted trunk and its scaly, fissured bark reveals an attractive rusty orange tone. It features long, variegated needles of butter yellow and green, and if viewed from its terminal bud, appears to resemble the eye of a dragon - thus its name. Stunning variegation is present year-round and intensifies from summer to fall and lasts into winter.
Dragon's Eye Japanese Red Pine enjoys full sun in well-drained soils. Ideal as a specimen tree or windbreak.
