Pinus cembra 'Herman' is commonly referred to as the Prairie Statesman® Swiss Stone Pine or. It is an extremely cold hardy choice for cooler climates. It has a narrow, dense growth habit with its lateral branches curving upward and inward creating a conical shape. It features emerald green needles that have a blue cast.
The Prairie Statesman® should only be grown in full sun. It prefers average to dry moisture levels in well-drained soil. It will not survive standing water. It is tolerant of urban pollution and can thrive in city environments. This is a tough, slow-growing pine that can live over 100 years for the enjoyment of future generations.
