Picea abies 'Rubra Spicata' is commonly referred to Red Tip Norway Spruce. It is a slow-growing, upright tree form that is noteworthy for its new spring growth of deep scarlet red tips that can last a week or two, fading to brown then dark green.
The Red Tipped Norway Spruce is a low maintenance tree that is deer resistant. It thrives in full to part sun in evenly moist, well-drained soils. It will not tolerate standing water. It is tolerant of urban pollution and can thrive in city environments.
