Malus domestica 'Winter Banana' is commonly referred to as Winter Banana Apple. This mid to late season heirloom apple features large, attractive, apples with waxy, yellow blushed pink skin. It has a juicy, crisp, tangy flavor and is excellent as a dessert apple. It has a subtle tropical scent that is reminiscent of a banana or pineapple at peak maturity. Best consumed fresh to appreciate its subtle flavors.
The Winter Banana Apple is partly self-fertile but benefits from pollinators from other varieties. It thrives in full sun in rich, evenly moist, well-drained soils.
