FAT BUD LAVANDIN LAVENDER

Lavandula x intermedia 'Grosso', commonly known as 'Grosso' French Hybrid Lavender or Fat Bud French Lavender, is one of the most widely cultivated lavender varieties globally, prized for its exceptional fragrance and large-scale performance. As a hybrid cross between English and Portuguese lavender, 'Grosso' is a vigorous grower that typically grows 24-30 inches in height and 18-24 inches in spread. It produces an abundant display of long, plump spikes of deep violet-blue flowers from mid to late summer, offering a beautiful floral display after the earlier English lavenders have finished. Its high essential oil content, which gives it a powerful, camphor-tinged scent, makes it the commercial standard for perfumes, essential oils, sachets, and dried flower arrangements.

'Grosso' Lavender demands full sun (at least six hours daily) and absolutely excellent drainage, thriving in poor, sandy, or gravelly soils with a slightly alkaline pH. It is hardy in USDA Zones 5-9 and exhibits good tolerance for heat, wind, and drought once established, though its vigor can be reduced by high humidity.
