JUNIPERUS VIR GLAUCA
Grower Notes:

Juniperus virginiana 'Glauca' is commonly referred to as Silver Eastern Red Cedar. It is a low maintenance and soil tolerant, upright variety that has silvery blue scale-like foliage and abundant blue berries to keep the songbirds singing. Foliage turns more bronze in winter months. The bark is reddish-brown, fibrous and peels in narrow strips on mature trees. The wood is used for cedar chests and closets due to its natural insect resistance.

Silver Eastern Red Cedar is slow-growing and long lived. It is deer and rabbit resistant and thrives in full sun in average, well-drained soils. It will not tolerate standing water. It can be drought tolerant once established. It is tolerant of urban pollution and can thrive in city environments.
