Helleborus x ballardiae 'HGC® Merlin' PP22,350 is commonly referred to as Merlin Lenten Rose or Christmas Rose from the Helleborus Gold Collection® (HGC). The Helleborus Gold Collection® is a variety of Christmas Rose that are hardy, low-maintenance Helleborus that start flowering as early as November. Some varieties even bloom in October. These plants continue to produce flowers throughout the winter season unlike the Lenten Rose which flower late winter.
This charming, shade-loving, late winter/early spring blooming perennial features outward-facing, light pink flowers that mature to deep cranberry red. Dark green leathery evergreen foliage has prominent veining and dark stems that contrasts well with its blooms.
HGC® Merlin Lenten Rose is deer resistant and easy to grow. It thrives in full to partial shade in evenly moist, well-draining soils.
