CHIONANTHUS RETUSUS
Grower Notes:
Chionanthus retusus is commonly referred to as Chinese Fringetree. This small deciduous tree features fragrant, fringe-like, white flowers in late spring. Glossy green foliage turns yellow in fall. Purplish-blue fruit matures from late September to October, providing a second season of interest. This variety has slightly shorter and wider petals and smaller, leathery-like leaves than its native US cousin, Chionanthus virginicus.
Chinese Fringetree is a handsome specimen and easy to grow. It thrives in partial sun in evenly moist, well-draining soils.
