LIL MISS SUNSHINE®

Caryopteris x clandonensis 'Janice' PP22160 is commonly referred to as Little Miss Sunshine® Caryopteris or Little Miss Sunshine® Bluebeard. This Proven Winner® selection is a smaller version of Caryopteris 'Sunshine Blue' - a cross between Caryopteris Petit Bleu® and Caryopteris Sunshine Blue. It features vivid bright yellow foliage all through summer, and bright blue flowers from late summer into fall.

Little Miss Sunshine ® enjoys full sun in evenly moist, well-drained soils. It is ideal for borders, foundations plantings and cottage gardens. Its compact form makes it perfect for container plantings as well.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH, as these shrubs are highly intolerant of waterlogged winter conditions. Select a site that receives full sun to partial shade, noting that maximum sun exposure ensures the most prolific flowering and vibrant foliage color. Prune hard in early spring, cutting back to just above the new growth, to stimulate sturdy stems and prevent the plant from becoming woody or leggy. Apply a light layer of organic mulch to the root zone to retain moisture, ensuring the crown remains clear to prevent rot.
