ALNUS GLUTINOSA
Grower Notes:

Alnus glutinosa is commonly known as the Black Alder, European Alder, the common Alder or just Alder. It is a medium sized tree that grows in a somewhat conical form and has short-stalked rounded, wavy leaves with a serrated margin. The leaf tip is never pointed and is often indented. As this tree thrives and grows mostly near water, its leaves last longer than others. Its bark is dark and fissured. The wood is very strong and does not rot when waterlogged, instead it grows stronger.

The Black Alder thrives in moist and wet locations such as marshes, wet woodland and streams. Its roots help prevent soil erosion.
