FORT MCNAIR RED HORSECHESTNUT
Fort McNair Red Horsechestnut is a rounded, deciduous, broadleaf tree for smaller yards. It has long, dense clusters of single pink flowers with yellow throats which are very attractive to hummingbirds. In fall the green foliage matures to a warm golden color.
Fort McNair thrives in full sun with moist, well-drained soil - no standing water. It is well suited for both contemporary and rustic landscapes, possibly away from sidewalks due to the seedpods that may fall.

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Select a site with full sun to partial shade and deep, fertile soil to support its rounded habit and showy pink - gold-centered flower clusters. Dig a planting hole two to three times the width of the root ball and set the specimen so the root flare remains slightly above the soil surface to ensure healthy root respiration. Backfill with native soil, water deeply to eliminate air pockets, and apply a 3-inch layer of organic mulch while keeping it clear of the trunk to maintain consistent moisture and protect the root zone.
